“…Evokes perfectly the times it is set in; a book that makes you think as well as one that tells a story of multiple strands, all nicely winding together to the perfect ending.” **** C. Bannister, Top 500 Reviewer, VineTM Voice.

A Sweeping Tale of Mystery and Suspense, steeped in the folklore of the 20th century and played out in 60’s Woodstock, 80’s Soho & on a remote Greek Island - an ideal Summer Read

·Woodstock, 1969 the Festival that defined a decade of peace, love and freedom. The paths of five young English students cross – with devastating consequences. Consequences that eventually reach a climax in an isolated Cretan gorge.
·Seventeen years later in the ‘golden age’ of capitalism, dramatic events conspire to reunite the surviving members, necessitating a perilous return to a tiny Greek island, where dangerous self-deceptions are at last forced into the glaring sunlight…

Ambitious and intricate, A Time of Myths is described by one leading London Literary Agency as “vivid, complex and memorable,” with settings that “capture the brooding darkness of London and the bright light of Greece beautifully”, and by Early Reviewers as

·“Action-packed - a suspense mystery that holds the reader right through to the very last page. Surely bound for the fiction bestseller lists.” ***** R. Bourne, Droitwich, UK
·"…evocative mystery that takes full advantage of temporal, geographical and point of view shifts, A Time of Myths keeps you on your toes…” **** J. Bender-Rubio, WA, USA
·“A skilfully-written story ranging across two continents and two very different time periods - a great summer read.” ***** I. Rycroft, East Anglia, UK

Smell the authentic atmosphere of the undiscovered Greek islands, relive the sexual exploration of Woodstock, and dabble in the money- and sex-obsessed 80’s, in this roller-coaster ride through the 20th century.

Ostensively, it’s an action adventure and murder mystery interwoven with an enduring love story. But dig deeper and darker themes are uncovered, for the novel seeks also to examine who we are and how far we are truly in control of our actions, and even of our lives.

I liked the story, but found all the philosophical rants between the characters boring. There were far too many and nearly every character indulged in several.

The characters are well-drawn, however, and remain consistent and true throughout the book. The "big surprises" were predictable and I had them figured out too quickly for my taste, but all in all it wasn't' a bad read.

A Time of Myths A Mystery Adventure edition by Chris Blamires Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Read it on a whim, but was soon totally engrossed. I never saw what was coming page to page, so I could barley put it down.
Poor, I felt the characters lacked depth and the story, always told in the present tense, realy jarred along.
If when refering to woodstock in the past, the writer insisted on using the present tense. He failed dismally to grab me.
Taking in account it is a debut novel, it was a decent read. At times, it was difficult to distinguish the many different characters and I found the pace à little too slow.
I am not a huge Woodstock fan but the cover and blurb looked so compelling that I thought I would try this out. The narrative goes back and forth from 1969 to 17 years later and fills in some details of what happened in between. I found the themes and writing to be intelligent and complex – I would categorize this novel more of a literary mystery than an action adventure.
A compelling story. Set across three countries and many years. A story of sadness and emotional regrets. The excitement of youth mixed with regrets and mistakes made.
The myth in this well written book is more modern times and not ancient. You will start out in sunny Greece and slowly meet the people involved in the story. But the best part of the book is the flash backs to how these people came to be together and affect the lives of the characters. Where you at Woodstock? Too young or too old? I was the right age but not there and knew only a little from the headlines of what happens when hundreds of young flower children types come together in a natural amphitheater for the music concert of the century. A good treatment of the problems encountered for the young people, the organizers and the peace officers. A couple hundred thousand people will probably never come together like this again.
This is a story of flawed and fallen human beings. It details their psychoses, fears, habits, false starts and continuing failures. It takes shape at Woodstock, that crazy assemblage of half a million young people in a meadow of the Catskill Mountains. There are drugs, strange hippie behaviors, attempts at love and sex, unformed philosophies, and contrasts between the truly evil and the merely misguided. The story follows these young people through a lifetime of experiences. The culmination of the story is when a man and a woman cast aside all their turbulent pasts and find, at last, the innocence they have always been seeking. It is a parable for saving grace, which has eluded them for so many years. It is a tale of forgiveness for even the most terrible of sins. While not a religious story, the outcome is the same salvation comes through love, forgiveness, and repentance. What is missing is the face of Jesus, but what is present is the effect of Godly love, when it falls unexpectedly upon two repentant human beings.
